Betsy-Sue Clarke’s holistic approach to creating gardens is informed by a diverse background encompassing careers in nursing, fashion design and a life long affinity with Nature. An inquisitive open mind has led her to develop unique expertise in connecting people to Nature at a deep emotional and spiritual level with a focus on emotional illness. This passion has led to projects working with the Catholic Church and survivors of child sexual abuse, being part of the design team for Global Gardens of Peace working on the Gaza Garden in Palestine and working with children of asylum seekers and refugees in Broadmeadows.
Her business of 18 years, Dirtscape Dreaming, has celebrated Gold, Silver, Bronze and Comeadow Design awards at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, design excellence awards from Industry organisations and much loved gardens opened through Garden Designfest.
Teaching sessionally at University and colleges, her own workshops and short courses, she embraces every opportunity to connect with people and bring them together, promoting equality and reducing isolation. Her private gardens and public landscapes across Australia provide sanctuary, meaning and retreat from everyday life.
